ClinicianSheppard Mental Health And Wellness Jul 2023 - PresentDallas-Fort Worth Metroplex- Create an environment where clients are invited to be their true selves without fear of judgement or invalidation. - Reach folks who do not feel safe in other, more traditional therapeutic spaces and welcome them to an experience that fully supports their individuality and celebrates each facet of their identity. - Take on the role of dedicated student, learning as much as possible from each client served. Clients are the experts on themselves and their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Gathering the knowledge from clients is a cornerstone to unique, and informed treatment planning.- Collaborate with each client, their other treatment providers, and sometimes even their support system to create a treatment plan. Everyone’s mental health journey is different; therefore, each client’s healing path is unique to their lived experience and cannot (and should not) be a "cookie cutter" formula.- Asses each client, at the start, for their level of motivation to receive treatment. This metric gives a better understanding of the individual, their goals, and their palpable eagerness to do "the work." Clients are typically committed to the process. They are open minded, willing, honest, introspective, and determined.- Foster a space where clients have full control over the pace of the work that is done and only go as far as they feel safe and emotionally able to do so. - Approach all situations with kindness, curiosity, and an open mind. - Proudly share identity as a lesbian and as a member of the Queer Community.- Maintain a deep commitment to the morals and values of the Social Work Code of Ethics (service, social justice, dignity and worth of the person, importance of human relationships, integrity, and competence.)
