Public Works Crew
My main role as a part of the Public Works Crew with the City was to work on and maintain landscaping, as well as doing general labour for the city. My job included but was not limited to: - Landscape duties: maintaining a clean and organized image of the cities' assemblages. including maintaining irrigation, weeding, mowing and weed-wacking, and tree planting. - Street Cleanup : helping control dust levels and keeping debris off the street- General Labour: fire hydrant upkeep, maintenance and painting, along with yard cleanup, manual labour- Yard waste disposal: Collection and emptying of yard waste bags from residents and properly disposing of them at the landfill. - Side-walk Maintenance: Correcting sidewalk uplift to eliminate pedestrian hazards by grinding down uplifted edges with a sidewalk grinder. - Over-growth Control: Removing unaesthetic and potentially hazardous overgrowth from water treatment and sewage areas, along with along roads and residential boundaries. - Event preparation: Armstrong's 100 year celebration required special event decorations and safety barriers to be set up around town for the town event. -Student summer job.
