Growing up in the Rocky Mountains of Alberta, I have always had an interest in health, physical activity and the human body. Throughout my first three years of my Kinesiology undergraduate degree, I have gained a profound academic understanding in subjects including biomechanics, anatomy, physiology, and neuroscience. Through various hands-on learning positions including student athletic trainer for sport teams, Physiology Lab Assistant and Neuroscience Research Assistant, I have gained practical and problem-solving skills. My experience as a previous competitive climber for numerous years has taught me the critical roles of dedication, perseverance and resiliency - qualities that have proven invaluable both on and off the wall. This unique perspective has enriched my approach to kinesiology, teaching me the importance of mental fortitude alongside physical strength.In addition to my professional and academic pursuits, I have actively sought opportunities to volunteer in the community. Working with individuals with cognitive and physical barriers, I have developed a passion for helping people achieve success and happiness in various environments. I have also learned the importance of being a positive and encouraging team player. Following my undergrad at UVic, my aspiration is to attend UBC for a Master's in Physical Therapy in hopes of pursuing a career in Physiotherapy with high level sports teams. I am eager to expand my knowledge and skills in kinesiology and exercise science through future academic courses, external volunteer opportunities and professional endeavours.
