Responsible for ensuring strategic and effective communications I oversee the development and implementation the IOPC’s communications strategy and its alignment with its Strategic Plan. Reporting to the Head of Communications, I provide a supportive role on all aspects of management and operations within the Communications Team with direct responsibility for managing content and design, digital marketing, and internal communications, plus two contract roles for significant strategic projects.

No estimates or shock bills required as the smart meter will break it down - pound and pence!It is Smart Energy GB's ambition to get every household in Britain installed with a meter by 2020 and I was responsible for proactively promoting their existence by creating and generating public interest through public relations and event management. Provided the stakeholder engagement and communications expertise for the development and implementation of the Information for Quality programme - a body of work which is changing the way the HFEA collects, communicates and publishes information for fertility clinics, patients and the general public.

I successfully headed and galvanised a temporary communications team as the Trust underwent restructuring. My leadership enabled the provision of an expert advice service to all stakeholders as I matched the teams’ expertise and experience, with area and need of the business. This ensured a first class communications service was provided during a time of uncertainty.

This was comms – bureau style. Here I looked after the North West London Commissioning Support Unit, which comprised of 8 Clinical Commissioning Groups had taken over the Primary Care Trusts. As the interim, I was thrown in at the deep end, where I took on the voices of not one but eight Chief Operating Officers, combined the corporate messages of each CCG and unified it as one. Great times.

Did you know that sickle cell and thalassemia are two inherited conditions that can affect anyone – regardless of race of background? Well, I spent eight rewarding years raising awareness about these genetic conditions – setting the record straight, busting the myths and highlighting the availability of screening for each conditions through the antenatal and newborn programmes.There is no denying it these conditions can affect some ethnic groups more significantly than others and through my pubic engagement campaigns, African Caribbean and Southern Asian young adults were targeted through partnerships with public health agencies, and charities and community groups to deliver the message of genetic inheritance and making informed decisions.
