Leading the firm’s FX research effort to drive idea generation, hedging advice and trade recommendations for portfolio managers with an array of clients across multiple investment horizons and mandates. Main focus to deliver timely and bespoke FX research and advice for Multi-Asset, Private Markets, Real Estate and Global Fixed and Equity teams. Key deliverables included Strategic Investment Group and House View reporting, Monthly FX Valuation updates and frequent updates relating to market developments linked to key investment positions. Regular FX spokesman in media and client communications.Key AchievementsFully incorporated new FX Research function into investment processes for Multi-Asset. Pivotal member of the new Global FX Steering Group in developing buy-in across legacy firms, the global front office and the wider investment business. Leading the firm’s management of FX transaction risk through ownership of the end to end systems and processes. Managing processes from underlying front office transactions to FX market interactions and custodian and back office relationships. Developing Hedge Ratio Management, FX Strategy and Advisory service and FX Fair Value Research for the House View and Strategic Investment Groups. Supporting MMFX Director on MM and FX issues.Key AchievementsDesigned and implemented a systematic exposure and trading process which reduced risk, improved execution efficacy and minimised trading costs. This change accommodated a 22% annual rise in trading requirements over 14 years yet still reducing trading costs by 20% on average and incorporating best practice in TCF, MiFid II and all other Best Execution requirements. Developed an end-to-end holistic FX Advisory service for market and trading risk, incorporating macroeconomic analysis and models as well as idea generation, hedging, and investment process advice. Levelling up skills and incorporating best practice in FX processes across the company generated better risk control alongside profit opportunities.Delivered frequent internally and externally focussed FX macro research designed to assist in the key active asset allocation groups and hedging decisions for the company. Key member of pre-hedging decision group for FX exposure of Canadian business sale delivering a 10% boost in the full sale proceeds for the company.Designed and implemented auto-hedging FX process for £18b of AUM reducing portfolio management costs by 15%, improving hedge ratio effectiveness and eliminating hedge ratio dispersion across similarly mandated clients.
