I have been supporting DoD Networks for over 18 years, first as a Senior Systems Engineer, and more recently as Major Account Manager for the US Army.I have seen more change in network technology in the last two years than I have in the previous twenty. The advent of Software Defined Networks (SDN) and Network Function Virtualization (NFV) is fundamentally changing the way networks can be designed and deployed, and creating new opportunities for the DoD to rethink their network environment.While the DoD typically lags behind the commercial world in adopting new technology, the advantages of SDN and NFV versus traditional hardware-centric networks in terms of lower costs, ease of management, rapid deployment and increased security will undoubtedly lead to quick acceptance. My focus is enabling my customers to take advantage of these new technologies, allowing them to design, install and operate advanced computer networks and datacenters able to meet operational requirements now and for the foreseeable future.
