As the sole writer on the Camera Motion Systems (CMS) project, my responsibilities encompassed all aspects of the user documentation lifecycle including change impact analysis, audience analysis, document planning and design, research and writing, and production. I developed document templates, managed document version control, and maintained the documentation source file repository.Publication types included site requirements documents, installation and setup guides, user guides, technical manuals, release notes, on-product help systems, field hardware upgrade bulletins, parts lists, and labels for safety and regulatory compliance.The CMS development team consisted of several smaller teams working on projects that had overlapping release cycles. In consultation with the Product Manager and the Product Operations Manager, I regularly reorganized my workload to balance competing priorities and to ensure that all product releases were supported.During my first six years at Ross Video, I was also the sole writer for the DashBoard Facility Control platform and for the Legislative Control System, which was a camera-control application for DashBoard.One of my deliverables was the DashBoard CustomPanel Developer Guide, which was an API reference manual about DashBoard’s JavaScript-based ogScript programming language and about OGLML, the XML-based schema that defined DashBoard panels.I also documented the DashBoard Visual Logic editor, which enabled customers to create ogScript code segments using a drag-and-drop UI.

I planned, produced, and updated configuration manuals about radar systems, and user manuals about SKYCONTROL air traffic management software.

I researched and wrote about video surveillance systems for passenger rail applications. Tools used included Adobe FrameMaker (structured and unstructured), RoboHelp, Illustrator, and MS Office.

I planned, produced, and updated user manuals about business intelligence software solutions including Cognos Web Services, Portal Services, Deployment Manager, Visualizer, ReportNet, and Analytic Applications (Adaptive Warehouse). I worked primarily in structured FrameMaker, using Cognos’ DITA-based CogDoc XML schema.For the ReportNet API manual, I documented a significant portion of the ReportNet XML schema.

I updated the product definition document, user guide, upgrade guide, and release notes for the Supernode Data Manager system. I learned about OAM&P functionality for the Nortel DMS product line.
