I am now at twelve years of retirment. Living in the countryside, six years volunteering at our local Habitat for Humanity, and short position as 2020 Census field supervisor, were all rewarding. My six years at Habitat, of which four on the Board , provided great rewards ‘paying it forward’ by providing their needy families with homes. The seven months as 2020 Census as a Field Supervisor, were a joy of guiding and developing staff. This was an interesting, challenging position meeting timeline scheduling, and supervising a staff of fifteen. Now I keep very active maintaining our home, and thirty -five acres in the central Texas countryside. A two-year hobby of hiking resulted with a fall-2023 five-hundred-mile hike/pilgrimage across northern Spain on the Camino de Santiago. Travels to Europe, Cuba, the South Pacific, and Caribbean, have provided continuing goal to travel internationally and learning of other cultures. My time working as 2020 Census Field Supervisor, was rewarding not only financially, but more to my joy of working with staff on a challenging project. My team of fifteen enumerators ended up being one of the most productive in our region, and me serving as lead Field Supervisor. The thirteen years enjoyed as manager, then director of technology infrastructure, followed by the Census position, provided satisfaction managing logistics, budget, and people. Serving as a mentor, while developing folks, was the most joyous thing however during my working career and in retirement. Now after over a decade of retirement, I miss working with people, especially the mentoring aspects. I also miss the challenges of managing projects, budgets, and logistics. Enjoying country life however, prevents me from seeking full time employment. Also, enjoying international travel a time or two each year is simply something that has become a priority in my life. I am ready to take on short time positions, especially remote work from home positions. Limited travel would be ok however. The ability to use over forty years of experience in information technology, and over twenty years in various management positions, would make me a fit for many positions. Managing, mentoring, and developing staff, being one my favorite things in life, would be an added asset for a filed management temporary/contract position. I am Continuing to enjoy retirement life on our little 'ranch' outside of Seguin, TX. Working in short term positions, providing others with the knowledge gained in a fantastic career would give my life a bit more purpose.
