As a Great Issues Scholar in the Global Village Living Learning Community (LLC) at Dartmouth, I engaged in a year-long series of interactive events designed to deepen understanding of complex global challenges. This program facilitated direct interaction with distinguished faculty, visiting experts, and peers, fostering a comprehensive grasp of global issues such as climate change, international development, and regional security.Key responsibilities and experiences included:- In-Residence Engagement: Lived within the Global Village LLC, maximizing immersion and collaboration with fellow scholars and participating actively in community-focused discussions and events.- Event Participation: Attended and contributed to a diverse range of events featuring policy leaders, diplomats, scientists, and other professionals, gaining insights into their areas of expertise and how they intersect with global issues.- Simulations and Discussions: Participated in simulations and discussions on international politics, infectious disease control, and national security, developing critical thinking and problem-solving skills relevant to current global challenges.- Thematic Exploration: Engaged in small-group sessions focusing on themes like global health and gender in politics, enhancing my understanding of these issues and exploring various academic and career paths related to global affairs.This role provided a rich, immersive experience that deepened my knowledge of international policy and diplomacy while enhancing my ability to engage with and analyze global challenges from multiple perspectives.
