My aviation career was inspired by my grandfather, Tuskegee Airman Elbert "Zip" Johnson, and spans nearly four decades, including service in the U.S. Army, Navy, and Air Force. During my military career, I flew six different aircraft, logging over 9,000 military flight hours across six continents and over 130 combat missions in Iraq and Afghanistan. I led safety and operations for Special Operations, including NORAD’s defense mission, and later served as Director of Flight Operations for the 745th Special Operations Unit in Afghanistan. Upon transitioning to commercial aviation, I became an International Captain at American Airlines, accumulating over 10,000 flight hours in Asia, Europe, and the Americas. Flying that spans across multiple aircraft models, including the B-727, B-757, B-767, B-787, A319, A320, and A321. In addition to my flying career, I’m a registered lobbyist and serve on the Government Affairs Committee of the Allied Pilots Association, where I advocate for safety measures, industry growth, and resources for infrastructure and training. I focus on protecting the interests of the more than 45,000 pilots working with the Coalition of Airline Pilots Associations and advancing commercial aviation's overall safety and efficiency.
