Assistant Medical Manager/Lead Medical Trainer for DoS contract to improve the medical capabilities of the Sudanese Peoples Liberation Army (Army) in their transition from a liberating force to a new-country national defense force. Developed and oversaw Combat Medicine Courses, inspected medical facilities & suggested improvements.

In-country (Afghanistan) Medical Operations Manager for Comprehensive Health Services. Designed management system for proposed implementation of remote paramedics at Forward Operating Bases in southern Afghanistan. Established procedures for ordering supplies from military Class 8 system and the the collection, transmission, and distribution of reports from outlying sites to Prime contractor. Designed medical Protocols for outlying FOB's to include medical oversight provisions. Worked with engineers and planners to design clinics for outlying FOB's and compiled lists of equipment needed for these clinics.Contract with my employer cancelled by Prime contractor to U.S. military (opted for Eastern European medics).

Physician Assistant at Al Hillah, a Remote Embassy Office site located south of Baghdad, Iraq. Maintained Clinic and clinic supplies, treated patients, and instructed military and contract medics whenever possible. Maintained records on DFAC personnel to insure their health maintenance per government protocols.

DOD Physician Assistant at Army Troop Medical Clinic at Fort Richardson, Alaska. Treated Active Duty, Reserve, and retired soldiers in Outpatient facility and referred to specialists when necessary. Patient load averaged 25-30 patients per day. Left to work for KBR in Iraq.

Temporary position while awaiting processing for DoD position. Sole mid-level provider at Trident Fisheries remote fish-processing facility in the Aleutian Islands in Alaska. Responsible for the emergency and outpatient treatment of Somali, Sudanese, Filipino, Japanese, and American employees, and arranging medical evacuations when necessary. Corresponded with supervising physicians in Seattle whenever necessary.

Family Practice and Emergency Medicine Provider at three remote clinics on road system in central Alaska (Delta Junction, Tok, Glenallan). Worked with nurses and ancillary personnel, and occasionally with M.D.'s, providing full range of services to pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients. Arranged medical evacuations to Anchorage or Fairbanks when necessary. Provided instruction to local EMS squad when time available. Left to get work in Anchorage.

Remote independent P.A., provided Outpatient and Emergency medical services to Alaska natives in remote villages in Aleutian Islands, coastal, and interior Alaska (fly-in villages only). Villages often without EMS service. Provided full-range of general outpatient services and stabilized trauma and medical patients for medevacs whenever necessary. Taught EMS Providers ETT classes periodically. Left for work on the road system, to be closer to home.

Temporary position, helping out North Slope Borough Health and Search and Rescue Departments. Worked as solo medical provider in villages of Nuiqsut and Atqasuk and also flew critical care medevac flights for Search and Rescue Department. Response area was northernmost 90,000 square miles of Alaska, from Chugchi sea to Canada. Left when contract ended and to get work closer to home.

First P.A. to be stationed at the South Pole, to assist the contract physician. Inventoried the BioMed Department and maintained supplies. Worked non-medical job for most of the day, becoming available for medical work on an as-needed basis. Unfortunately, I was terminated by the Physician, who was later terminated by another Medical broker (StaffCare) for an inability to get along with mid-level Providers.

Remote-duty Physician Assistant at remote oil-exploratory and production sites on the North Slope of Alaska and in the Aleutian Islands. Designed and stocked clinics with equipment and supplies, treated patients with non-occupational medical issues and occupational trauma. Arranged medical evacuations to Anchorage when necessary. Taught and medically-supervised local paramedics/security personnel. Contract ended when oil company (Conoco-Phillips) decided to hire it's own personnel.

Contract Physician Assistant to the U.S. Army in Mannheim, Germany. Treated Active Duty soldiers, their dependents, and DoD personnel at clinic at Benjamin Franklin Village. Worked alongside military P.A.'s and Physicians. Occasional Emergency Room duties at ER in Heidelberg.

Physician Assistant in Egypt. Designed and ran small American military outpost clinic in Nile Delta, treating U.S. Army instructor pilots, civilian contractors and their families, and occasionally Egyptian patients. Designed interior of local ambulance. Taught CPR to military personnel. Arranged medical evacuation by ambulance to Cairo when necessary.

Critical-care Medevac Specialist in fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft on North Slope of Alaska (northernmost 90,000 square miles), providing services to 8 villages. Based out of Barrow. Maintained interior of aircraft and medical supplies, taught medevac-escort classes to other escort personnel. Ran medevacs to villages and inter-facility to more-advance-care facilities in Fairbanks and Anchorage. Occasional ER shifts at local hospital (Samuel Simmonds Memorial Hospital).

Remote-duty P.A. at Trans-Alaska Pipeline camp during major re-route of the pipeline. Occupational and emergency medical care of workers and occasional truckers enroute from Fairbanks to Prudhoe Bay. Arranged medical evacuation by airplane when necessary. Consulted with Physician's in Anchorage when necessary.

Second-class Radiotelephone Operator and medic on offshore semi-submersible oil-exploratory platforms in Alaska, Brazil, and enroute from Alaska to Scotland. Maintained all radio communications on-board, to include radio-telephone, Single-side-band, and Telex operations. Maintained administrative records for payroll and organized on-board MWR activities. Acted as local air traffic control when helicopter operations on-going. Worked as medic in situations where full-time P.A. or EMT not on-board.

Cooks Assistant and EMT at remote land-based oil exploratory camps in interior Alaska. Arranged medevac's when necessary.

U.S. Air Force Pararescueman during closing months of Vietnam conflict. After attending U.S. Army Airborne school, U.S. Navy SCUBA School, U.S. Air Force Medical Technician School, U.S. Air Force Survival School, U.S. Air Force Heavylift Helicopter and Pararescue Schools in CONUS (Team Leader throughout training), was transferred to Thailand (NKP, Korat air bases) for first deployment. Second duty location was Anchorage, Alaska, where we worked more with Mountain and High-Altitude rescue and cold-water SCUBA operations. SCUBA accident with faulty equipment led to my premature medical discharge from the military. No functional sequelae have yet surfaced and I still enjoy diving.
