I led a group of 4-6 individuals in environmental restoration projects across the Puget Sound region including invasive species removal (both manual and chemical), and re-vegetation through planting native plants and mixing/spreading native seeds. I assisted with the logistics of organizing a food and supply distribution that supports 40 families every week through coordinating volunteers, setting up tables, organizing items for distributions, ordering items, and co-writing a narrative for a grant we were offered! Other projects included creating a calendar of local food distributions and food shelf hours, and assisting with harvesting, planting, and coordinating volunteers on a local community farm.

I identified species in long-term vegetation research plots, removed invasive plant species, downloaded weather station data using HOBOware technology, salvaged and transplanted native plant species in restoration sites, and collected native seed for storage in the National Park Service's long-term seed bank. I hiked around 1-9 miles in all types of weather over uneven surfaces each work day.

I helped lead 70-minutes tours for PreK-12 school groups and provoked curiosity within visitors that came to The Bell Museum about our natural world. When I was not leading tours, I was engaging with visitors in the Touch and See room about the different specimens and through holding educational animals or I was engaging with visitors in seasonal galleries.

I printed music for the 320 member Pride of Minnesota Marching Band as well as for the University's 3 pep bands along with another Library Manager. Duties included printing, sorting, copying and cutting music culminating in the creation of folders for individual band members. I managed the "Music Request" form for both the marching and pep bands as well as printing music for smaller ensembles that represent the band at special events.

At Wolf Ridge Environmental Center, I taught 1.5, 3-hour and full-day classes on a wide range of environmental topics including organic farming, astronomy, voyageur life in the fur trade, archery, stream study, and frogs+toads. I taught a specialty eco-artists camp for 3rd-5th graders where we dyed yarn using natural dyes, created art from found materials in the woods and ended with an art showcase to tie together all the pieces they made during the week!

I worked with 3rd, 4th and 5th graders both in the classroom and the school's science lab called the "inquiry-zone" with hands-on science lessons. I taught two units on renewable resources and light. I led the aquaponics captains team made up of students from 5 different classrooms in conducting water quality tests and planting vegetables for harvest.

I worked with the Rogers Organic Horticulture Lab to analyze spotted wing drosophila (fruit fly) effects on soft fruits. A blend of field (constructing high tunnels, setting up traps) and lab work (conducting bioassays, data analysis, maintaining fly populations) to help find solutions to protect crops from infestation. I also worked in the Erwin Lab to prepare and weigh tomato roots in partnership with their research on the effects of heat on tomato lifespan and growth rates.

I helped the Cornercopia Student Organic Farm prepare for their summer season. Work included harvesting, weighing and categorizing microgreens as well as creating soil blocks and planting seeds for germination tests.

I worked in a multidisciplinary design team with local beekeepers from Bolton Bees to create an environmentally friendly honey on-the-go package. We collaborated within sprints to gather preliminary research and user interviews as well as developed sketches and package design prototypes to present to our client.

I worked in the Research & Strategy division of Design U, a student design consultancy alongside the Loft Literary Center to gain insights into improving writing class attendance rates and college student involvement in the Loft's programs. I mentored 26 students from the College of Liberal Arts, helping them navigate their first year as a student at the University. I graded weekly reflection assignments and met with students to talk about their successes and struggles of their first year, pointing them to resources on campus to achieve their goals.

My team of 4 was in charge of site programming, scheduling service projects and evening activities, teaching meal preparation, nightly worship and helping kids pursue questions about their faith.
