While I was hired initially as Assistant General Counsel to oversee business affairs, I was quickly promoted through roles of increasing responsibility and authority for other company operations as USP expanded. Currently, I provide strategic oversight across the organization on matters involving corporate structure, employment related issues, intellectual property, real estate acquisition and development, litigation and general business matters. I advise leadership and exercise broad discretion in navigating the company through legal risks to achieve organizational objectives.My leadership roles include membership on USP’s Global Leadership Team and Plan Administrator Group. My accomplishments include:➤ Proactively instituting a global security function to protect 500K+ square feet of international office/laboratory space and business travelers traveling a combined 15K+ days annually throughout 80+ countries.➤ Incorporating and structuring overseas subsidiaries to comply with complex foreign regulations in Brazil, China, India, Bangladesh, Ethiopia, Ghana, Indonesia, Nigeria, Pakistan, Singapore and Switzerland. ➤ Partnering with the Controller and CFO to successfully avoid permanent establishment for a U.S. entity, avoiding millions of dollars in taxes.➤ Assuming responsibility for and significantly growing the enterprise property & casualty insurance program to meet the needs of a rapidly growing global organization.➤ Developing a Global Compliance & Ethics department by hiring and managing the first fulltime compliance attorney.My management philosophy with my staff of global attorneys is to trust them to do their jobs professionally and come to me when they need advice, which has proven to be very effective.
