Motivate and assist 9th-12th graders to enroll and graduate from college by helping them identify financial aid, scholarship and post-secondary educational opportunities. Assist students select colleges and prepare college applications, financial aid documents, test registration and fee waiver forms. Establish and maintain positive working relationships with students, parents, counselors, principals, federal and local college administrators, college admission and financial aid staff. Utilize computers to enter and maintain student data profiles, college financial aid and scholarship opportunities. Professionally represent and communicate DC-CAP’s mission and objectives to students, parents, teachers, schools, administrators and the community at large through seminars, presentations, group and one-on-one counseling.

Utilized leadership, advocacy, and collaboration to promote student success, provided preventive services, and responded to identified student needs by implementing a comprehensive school-counseling program that addresses academic, college/career and social/emotional development for students.

Responsible for coaching, character development and providing direction to student athletes so that they may achieve a high level of skill as well as an appreciation for discipline, sportsmanship and teamwork in basketball. Provided physical education and health instruction at Paul International High School. Planned the curriculum and prepared lesson plans and other instructional materials to meet the individual needs of students, while considering state and school requirements. Worked closely with school leaders to analyze student assessment data and used data to inform instruction. Collaborated in grade level teams to discuss student work, shared best practices, and ensured student mastery of standards. Formed and maintained relationships with students’ families with phone calls and conferences. Participated in on-going professional development in the spirit of continuous improvement.

Served as the director of advanced scouting, director of basketball operations, focused on wing player development. Other responsibilities included, assisting with the planning and organization of all phases of the Saints basketball program including: on-court coaching, practice and game preparation and recruitment of quality student-athletes.

Used an intrusive case management approach to facilitate recruitment efforts and coordinate programs and service delivery to eligible Dual Enrollment students within Prince George’s County Public Schools. Through various modalities and with the use of technology, coordinators provided guided assistance and direct counsel to students and their families on every aspect of the college enrichment process from career exploration and development, scholarship and financial aid, placement and standardized testing, and the application and enrollment process in collaboration with pertinent offices from initial contact to registration for classes.
