As a commercial pilot, flight instructor, mechanic, and aircraft inspector; learning and a transfer of knowledge has been an integral part of my professional career. In this capacity, I have learned complex systems and procedures, instructed a wide variety of backgrounds on complex and technical procedures, and have had to interpret and conform to different rules and regulations. In past positions, I have worked closely with engineering, marketing, and contracts to deliver very sophisticated and extremely cosmetic results to very finicky and knowledgeable customers. Thinking “outside the box” is an integral part of my past management experience, such as developing procedures for equipment reliability to a fast paced oil-field Construction Company. This is what I bring to the table. I am not the guy that has sat in a classroom and has only academic knowledge of how processes work. Coming from a production background, I understand how many factors impact production. As a flight-test mechanic, I understand the importance of performing a specific task flawlessy, not only to meet safety requirements, but to reduce the cost of delivery of an item. As a flight instructor, I am able to educate people from differing backgrounds on hazards and decision making on principles and ideas they may not fully understand or appreciate at their level of performance. Working for the Missouri National Guard has been a very rewarding experience especially being responsible for instructing various processes in our facility. I also authored the current curriculum for “Confined Space Entry”. In addition, I also authored a “Drill Press Safety” course in response to our State Safety Audit. Some of these courses required changes to our Standard Operating Procedures (SOP). Processing and changing SOPs were a part of my existing job description.
