At ZUMIX, my job as a Radio Co-Facilitator involves using my knowledge about radio equipment to foster and further develop a dynamic learning environment. Through this, our Creative Media + Tech team enhances the accessibility for youth to gain radio experience and broadcast their voices for the East Boston community and beyond. I apply my bilingual capabilities in Spanish and English to broaden our reach. Additionally, I perform for the ZUMIX Rock Ensemble “Beware of Denise”, where I apply guitar skills, collaboration skills and many other skills to work together with other artists to practice and perform music occasionally. Along with these positions, I work for the ZUMIX Teen Council, the bridge between youth and staff that serves as a group of young leaders in the space that love advocating for ZUMIX and further pushing its mission out into the Greater Boston area, embodying the example of what ZUMIX is and the difference it could make for another young person too.During the Summer of 2024, I worked as a Youth Worker at ZUMIX as well, where I was focused on producing engaging community concerts, where we thrived on collaboration and exchanging creative ideas. With my electric guitar and computer, I blended my passion for music with technical skills through audiovisual editing, embodying the mission of ZUMIX; empowering young people to build successful futures for themselves, transforming lives and community through music, technology, and creative employment.
