A multifaceted role providing real-time impact focused weather forecasts, severe weather alerts and public messaging. Clients primarily consisted of international airports and state-level Departments of Transportation. During impactful weather events the Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) and the National Weather Service (NWS) utilize the 'Pathfinder Program' to coordinate public messaging of expected travel impacts. The 'Pathfinder Program' helps governmental and private entities in the weather community coordinate clear and consistent public messaging of weather hazards. Consistent messaging improves public awareness of potential hazards and minimizes confusion ahead of impactful weather events. In the summer months, my focus shifted from forecasting to the installation and maintenance of over 150+ Road Weather Instrumentation Systems (RWIS) and portable weather station across Utah. RWIS are road weather focused permanent weather stations that measure variables that impact driving conditions the most. I also deployed portable weather stations to locations that were highly sensitive to environmental effects, such as burn scars and foggy valley bottoms. These temporary stations support burn scar/debris flow monitoring, identification of future permanent RWIS sites and can be a quick reaction to monitor troublesome highway routes.
