Developed many business process models for a new banking system implementation at Canadian Western Bank. Models were for processes throughout the bank from front of line teller and lending through back office finance and admin. ARIS was used as a modelling tool. The new banking system was T24, a large banking system in use throughout the world.

Business Analyst for MS-Dynamics 2012 Implementation at CEDA InternationalPerformed business analysis activities for projects and finance business functions for an MS Dynamics AX 2012 implementation at CEDA International. Finance business functions included Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, General Ledger, Fixed Assets, Cash and Bank. I also worked on quote to cash and procure to pay high level processes. Much work had been done at a detailed level before I joined but high level processes had not yet been defined for the business. I delivered process models, use cases, fit/gap analysis and user acceptance testing scenarios. Business Process Modeling (BPM) and Use Cases for Dynamics AX Implementation at Strike Energy Business Process Models were created for all major Strike Energy Processes within the Strike Energy Companies. Business processes modelled included Projects Delivery, financial processes, AP, AR, GL and HR. They were developed using Visio 2010 in Cross-Functional ‘Swimlane’ style. Both Current State (Pre-Dynamics AX) and Future State (Post-Dynamics AX) models were developed. These models were used to determine current business workflows. These workflows were then used to determine the business process changes and improvements for the Dynamics AX implementation. Use Cases were derived for some of the more complex activities such as invoicing and requisitioning. HP Application Development for Cenovus WebRAT enhancements project. Performed all business analyst, QA and testing functions for an enhancement to add Riser risk data to the WebRAT system which manages pipeline Risk and PL100 data. Deliverables were completed for requirements, systems design, traceability and QA/testing. Vacancy Tracking project. Performed all business analyst functions for a project to add vacancy tracking Cenovus web based Org Chart system.

NEXEN June 2011 to December 2011Business AnalystPipeline Facilities Mobile Data Capture project to capture geo locations and data for Nexen’s pipelines and facilities. • Business Analyst for a project using ArcGIS Mobile running on a Trimble GeoExplorer 6000 Handheld GPS to capture pipeline facilities data and sync it to the Nexen corporate geo-databases. • Worked with the ESRI GIS Suite including ArcMAP, ArcServer and ArcMobile 10.SAP <-> GIS Integration study to evaluate the potential benefits of connecting SAP PM and the ESRI GeoDatabases for the Pipeline Facilities Group. • Analyzed Current data and business processes to identify where benefits could be derived. • Evaluated SAP <-> GIS Integration tools including APOS, Space Time Insight and SAP GEO.e. • Studied Nexen’s use of SAP Asset Management and the SAP PM Module. The ATB CORE project is replacing many key legacy banking systems with a new SAP based system. I performed Senior Business Analyst and Team Lead activities for the Core project including:• Business Process Modeling using ARIS. Worked with business Subject Matter Experts to model the new SAP based business processes including high level scenarios, detailed activity models, roles and responsibilities (Functional Allocation). Standard meetings, teleconferencing and remote desktop sharing was used to facilitate sessions. • Updated ARIS models to resolve many issues raised by the business owners, and integration testers. • Performed Gap Analysis between existing banking system requirements, current ARIS process models and the new SAP implementation. • Identified and documented issues and to-do items raised at business meetings which reviewed and acted on our gap analysis results. • Team Lead for Gap Analysis and deliverables traceability activities. Coordinated the work within our team of 6 BA’s and between us and the ATB CORE project team.

Calgary Alberta On Contract from September to December 2008ENMAX Corporation owns and operates all of the electrical Utilities for the City of Calgary.They recently began integrating all of the corporation's documents, maps, blueprints, designs, Etc into a new enterprise ESRI ArcGIS system and LiveLink document management platform. The land Department manages all of the federal, provincial, civic and private land use agreements for right-of-ways and other land use where a development requires electrical service. Each new development may require any number of different agreements in place. , Calgary Alberta On Contract from May to July 2008Ensign Energy is a global player in the well drilling and servicing industry. Due to major acquisitions, Ensign needs to integrate disparate systems across several companies into one large consolidated ERP system for Ensign. They chose to implement the Microsoft Dynamics AX (DAX) ERP products. Analysis and design of the initial data conversion and load from several existing systems into the new DAX HR. Analysis and design of the ongoing interfaces the new MS Dynamics to the many other existing systems that would continue to function after the ERP implementation. Developed documentation standards for data conversion and integration that could be used for any conversion project. Applied these templates to the specific requirement of the DAX HR project. Used Visio and Word. Petro Canada, Calgary Alberta On Contract from October to March 2008 Petro-Canada is one of Canada's largest oil and gas companies, operating in both the upstream and the downstream sectors of the industry in Canada and internationally. Petro Canada is implementing SAP throughout the organization. The first phase of the HR systems conversion involved integrating all of the existing web based HR .NET applications at PC into the new SAP intranet portal. Analysis, design, conversion and implementation of all of the existing HR systems and modifications required for them to work within the new SAP portal.

Bantrel Engineering builds some of the largest refineries and processing facilities on the planet. They required a system to replace a series of spreadsheets that were used to manage the millions of welds and supporting specifications and analysis are required for these facilities. Worked closely with a senior engineer to identify the unique requirements of this system. Worked with an as a developer to prototype the system. An agile/Scrum development approach was used, along with test driven development and visual studio team system to manage the documents, project and code.

Elk Valley Coal is a global leader in the production and sale of hard coking coal, a relatively uncommon material that is essential to the production of steel. With six mines in two Canadian provinces, more than 3,000 employees and a business focused on supplying world steel producers, Elk Valley Coal is strongly positioned in the global marketplace. Elk Valley needed to consolidate and upgrade it HR systems. The existing systems were reliant on a paper flow that slowed the HR processes and created much manual work. They choose to write a new HR system in house. The project was highly successful. The CEO indicated that we had reduced managers HR paperwork to 10% of what it used to be.Was the Business Analyst and Team Lead for a team of 4 developers, a documentation specialist and tester. Did planning, estimating, database design, coordination with the HR business and IT department, developed the System Architecture, screen design and workflow. UML was used extensively. Developed a distributed .NET windows and Web application to create and track Human Resources documents such as Hires, Terminations, Transfers and Leave of Absences. The application had a workflow component so that managers could approve documents via a web interface from their pc, notebook or blackberry mobile platform from anywhere in the world.

Developed .Net, SQL Server Applications to support analysis and acquisition of complex data related to the engineering applications of Wind Power and statistics.

The Alberta Pensions Administration System was an old outdated mainframe app that needed to move to a client/server platform in order to finish the mainframe decommissioning.Performed the analysis, design and development of the data conversion routines for a proof of concept / prototype. UML and Macroscope were used. The proof of concept was successful and Alberta Government Pensions Administration proceeded with the project.

Calgary, was assigned a number of projects with different clients that covered almost every aspect of IT projects from Initial Proposals through analysis, development and sustainment. The projects were from 1 to > 100 people in size. Fujitsu provided training in Project Management and Fujitsu's Macroscope Methodology, a world class methodology for all aspect of systems development whose clients include such companies as Boeing.

The Alberta government Energy and Utilities board and Department of Energy along with a consortium of oil and gas companies, required a single portal which would be used to capture all of the oil and gas metrics, data and reporting that the Alberta Government requires. This would be called the Petroleum Registry of Alberta.Developed components of this application to manage borehole data.Upgraded the core system components, page handlers and a web front-end screen to use Visual Studio .NET 2003. This involved in-depth Object Oriented analysis of the current design and structure.Performed application support and maintenance. Corrected many errors in go-live code. Added and changed functionality to meet business requirements. Greatly expanded my knowledge of the entire system environment.

BDL is a private joint venture company owned by Labatt Breweries of Canada and Molson Breweries for the wholesale distribution of beer and the collection of returnable, refillable and recyclable beer containers within the four Western Canadian Provinces, as well as Northwest Territories and the Yukon. The transportation dispatch and reporting required a large manual effort and significant efficiencies could be gained by streamlining and automating aspects of this system. Was the Business Systems Analyst, Software Developer and Project Lead.Developed Statement of Work and Scope, detailed business analysis and workflow documents including high-level UML use case diagrams. Developed a prototype using MS-ACCESS XP, MS_EXCEL XP and SQL server. Designed the data model and implemented with SQL-SERVER. Trained Logistics analyst in the use of the new MS-ACCESS/EXCEL/SQL system. Managed and performed all phases of this project working with Fujitsu Marketing and Resource managers, BDL management and BDL Logistics Coordinator.

AFSC) is a provincial crown corporation that provides farmers, agribusinesses and other small businesses loans, crop insurance and farm income disaster assistance. They required a system to enable the loans officers to gather and manage loans applications in the field. The system was to be EXCEL based. Performed analysis of an existing set of spreadsheets that loans officers use to support the loans approval process and developed Macroscope (Fujitsu's proprietary Methodology) and UML documentation of the existing system and the conversion of this system to MS Excel.

CPR is one of Canada's oldest corporations and was North America's first coast-to-coast transcontinental railway. CPR is a Class 1 railway, providing rail and intermodal freight transportation services over a network serving the principal business centres of Canada, the U.S. Midwest and the U.S. Northeast. CPR acquired a system from Northern Pacific railway called TYES. This system would integrate and consolidate all of CPR rail scheduling, tracking and Intermodal shipping management into one system. It would also need to integrate with many of CPR's other system. Performed systems, requirements analysis and architecture recovery activities to assist DMR in successfully winning the bid to implement 'TYES' at CPR. Used Macroscope, VISIO, ARIS modelling. After the project was won, worked as systems analyst to develop specification for the integration of TYEP. Created Macroscope and UML documents (Use Case, Activity, Etc) and led many Joint Application Development sessions.

Supported and enhanced internationally distributed hotel management systems. Created and deployed a major new release of the Hotel Management Information System. Mentored and guided programming staff. Established standards and methodologies. Moved software source into Visual SourceSafe. Software and systems environment used were Visual Basic 6, Crystal Reports, SQL Server 7, Microsoft Access and distributed Microsoft networking. Developed an online Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) for government reporting.

Designed and supervised the development of a database system to manage COAL borehole, geology, lab analysis data and general information. This system also interfaced with geological/geographical mapping systems, the SAS statistical analysis system and a mine modeling system.
