I have a track record of strong leadership skills, negotiation skills and technical knowledge.Substantial power supply engineering & engineering management background. Ten years supplier auditing experience as team lead assessor. Strong negotiating skills. I have the experience & ability to develop firm supplier relationships while maintaining company interests first. My suppliers recognize me as tough, but fair. Inside the company I maintain good relationships with the cross discipline teams & have achieved the reputation as one that is responsive and reliable on the follow through of critical issues. I am sought out for advice within the company regarding power supply issues technical or supplier related. In mentoring team members I follow the philosophy that we are always in a learning environment, and through the learning experience, improve. I view all interactions as transactions between suppliers and customers. This for both internal and external interactions, as it helps define the structure and expectations. I ask of all my team members to observe a 24 hour maximum rule in response to inquiries. Even if the answer is not known, get back to the inquirer to provide a time schedule for a complete response. This provides time boundaries for expectations.Specialties: Commodity management, price negotiations, technical & manufacturing problem resolution, program management, lead assessor auditor, people and resource management, project scheduling.

Interactions involve power supply manufacturers, hardware teams within the BU, corporate GSM commodity managers & corporate component engineering as well as marketing & manufacturing NPI engineering - including Asia teams. I entered DSBU/ESTG as a Technical Lead and subsequently doubled as engineering manager for one year until the position could be filled. On entering the BU I modified the qualification process requiring the suppliers to be more responsible for their developments. As a result, we were able to leverage auditing the development activities at the suppliers more effectively. This resulted in issue identification earlier with less issues in later development. I worked with corporate teams for improved docu-mentation of the processes. I achieved consistently high rated reviews and have received 23 Cisco Achievement Awards over the past 12 years at Cisco. These responsibilities involved interactions between suppliers, manufacturing & BU engineering for supplier reviews & scorecards, contract negotiations, issue/conflicts resolution & presentation of various initiatives/status to sen-ior management in both manufacturing & the BUs.I was the key GSM commodity manager for Delta, Liteon, Phihong & various other suppliers over time. The first three I handled over the duration of my time in GSM. I negotiated Master Purchasing Agreements with Delta & Astec, as well as lesser contracts with other suppliers. During the 2001 economic turn down I negotiated excess inventory claims for power supplies from $3.4M down to $1.9M. I was asked to intercede in the fan commodity as well and reduced claims there from $3.3M to $197K. In a product recall, our claim to the supplier dragged for 9 months, I was asked in and negotiated a $2.5M target settlement in 6 days. For the extent of my GSM assignment I led engineering and manufacturing teams on supplier qualification and continuing audits as lead assessor (trained in 1998). I also worked with internal cross discipline teams for quality improvements. Show less

In the last two years I additionally managed the quality department.Product development was mainly custom in the commercial area for customers in the commercial market place, but included some UPS development. This facility also included the factory where I gained much manufacturing process experience. In 1995 I was assigned to the Arizona aerospace division for 8 weeks when poor manufacturing quality prevented shipments. During the 8 weeks I drove their quality levels back up to expectations by reviewing and improving processes, working hands on with the work force. I received a corporate award for that effort.
