I love connect-the-dots – not the puzzles that help children practice their counting skills (although that can be fun) but the bits of information that overload organizations and people. My passion is making sense of nonsense. I analyze unorganized data and connect the perspectives and goals of others to create and tell informative stories with numbers, words and pictures that bring understanding to complex issues and help develop actionable plans.I possess a unique combination of skills – wordsmithing and number crunching. My experience runs the gamut from writing business news for a couple of daily newspapers to managing multi-million-dollar budgets for a regional telecommunications company.My communications skills were honed as associate editor of a regional business magazine before specializing in media relations and later serving as an executive speechwriter. Public relations and public affairs management required the reporting of financial results to state regulators.My analytical skills were further sharpened in forecasting revenues and directing budgets for a multi-year software development project. That led to the establishment of a program management office to deliver a variety of IT projects as scoped, on time and within budget.Let’s talk if that combination of skills could be put to productive use in your organization.
