• Served the corporate board of directors as a member of MPAC’s executive management group.• Developed, delivered and activated a government relations and outreach strategy across Ontario. Accountable for the SLA working group which negotiated both MPAC and Municipalities’ responsibilities. • Key decisionmaker on the corporate engagement framework by working with the contracted consulting firm, fellow executive members, and internal stakeholders. Led information session with internal MPAC employees, as well as external municipal and corporate stakeholders to explain how the framework was to be utilized to consult on property value methodology for the 2020 Reassessment Year. Led department strategies to implement framework • Participated as a member of the Executive in a corporate brand refresh and the work of infusing the strategy in everything MPAC does. This created a more consistent way to communicate both externally and internally – and provided an identifiable standard for employees to use in their work.
• Directed a six-member operations team to support Ministry of Finance operations including ministerial public appearances, liaising with other Finance Ministers’ offices across Canada as well as the Prime Minister’s office. • Led operations for Ontario’s annual budget day including stakeholder lock-up process, optics, logistics around the official press briefing, and VIP stakeholder guests to the legislature of Ontario. Achieved a reputation for excellent operations and stakeholder experiences through this period. Successfully negotiated the outcome of multiple ministerial challenges including the Ontario government’s move to sell beer and wine in grocery stores.• Accountable for public appointments for the Ministry of Finance including large agencies such as OLG, OSC and LCBO. Ensured candidates were qualified, vetted and aligned with the government’s mandate. • Key decisionmaker supporting the Finance Minister on decisions and planning priorities on four $130B Ontario Provincial budgets. Worked closely with Minister and officials ensuring policies and concerns are aligned with stakeholder expectations and/or government priorities. This work resulted in avoiding many potential pitfalls and provided for strong outcomes for the government and the Minister.
• Supervised minister’s office operations including staff management, scheduling & meetings for both portfolios. • Liaison to TO2015, (the public corporation responsible for the games). Involved in high-level meetings and process--steering venue and sport funding submissions through the Treasury Board process--over a two-year period. 2015 Pan /ParaPan projects were delivered on time and on budget. • Served the strategic needs of sports stakeholders new to government processes -- working collaboratively with them to achieve mutual goals.
• Built relationships, liaised and worked collaboratively with organized labour, employer groups and trade unions with thousands of employees – such as the Ontario Public Service Employees’ Union (OPSEU), the Laborers’ International Union of North America (LIUNA) and The Carpenters’ District Council of Ontario. • Negotiated with stakeholders on the finer details of three pieces of legislation: Toronto Transit Commission Dispute Resolution Act, 2011, Fire Protection and Prevention Amendment Act, 2011 and Occupational Health and Safety Statute Law Amendment Act, 2011. Achieved broa buy-in.
