MSc Aerospace Engineering - Profesional Project NUMERICAL SIMULATION AND OPTIMISATION OF FLOW CONTROL AT THE THROAT OF A GLOBE CONTROL VALVE Numerical simulation study to help optimize a globe control valve use in the oil and gas industry by understanding the characteristics of flow. RNG K-ε turbulence model was employed as the internal flow properties were highly turbulent with an inlet pressure of 2.94 MPa. This system was simulated under the flow conditions: steady-state and incompressible. From the recommendations provided by the API standard 598 valve inspection and testing document, liquid water was used a fluent. A significant improvement of the flow was observed in the optimized geometry at the throat region as compared to the original valve geometry. ANSYS FLUENT was used to help generate simulation.
