Elementary School Counselor
CurrentThroughout my experience as a Counsellor, provide diverse students (K-7) with a continuum of preventative, developmental, remedial and intervention services as a member of multidisciplinary teams.Among my areas of proven performance, I:• Provide attentive individual, group and family counselling and intervention services. • Support students throughout varying crises and everyday needs.• Work with families to implement parenting strategies.• Utilize a person-centered (Rogerian) and solution-focused approach to elementary counselling.• Maintain a tireless, meticulous and student-centric work ethic.• Approach the work of a Counselor with empathy, treating each person as an individual. • Develop Individual Education Plans (IEPs), Behaviour Support Plans (BSPs), and/or Functional Behaviour Assessments (FBAs) as required.• Implemented school-level programs including Friends for Life, WITS and other programs. • Create and present workshops in classrooms across the district, on various prevention, social responsibility and social skills curriculum/programs. • Ensure availability to students and compliance with rules and regulations from the Ministry of Children and Family Development (MCFD).• Partner with school administration, faculty, external agencies and other partners.• Maintain diplomacy when addressing conflict, hardship, stress and other sources of crisis in the workplace, classroom and in students’ personal lives.
