In this remote working role I work collaboratively with the engagement team providing flexible support across engagement projects, with a specific focus on educator projects. That being said, it is a varied role that involves supporting project delivery across the full breadth of the engagement team.

Project management: I managed a portfolio of triathlon, running and cycling sports events for 2500+ athletes. I ensured that events were delivered on time, safely, within budget and to a world class standard. Safety management: I worked closely with national governing bodies, event medical teams and freelance contractors to write operating plans and risk assessments that worked as a basis to provide robust event safety.Relationship management: I built and strengthened relationships with key partners, stakeholders, national governing bodies, local authorities, and local communities to ensure everyone was happy before each event. I worked hard to get events permitted, to get road closures approved and to keep communities happy. Event directing: I lead the team towards the fulfilment of event management plans and was the first point of contact for staff, volunteers and athletes during the events. I am a calm, professional person who can think clearly in stressful situations. I can cope well when required to quickly multitask, I am resilient to challenges and I am a solution focused problem solver.

People management: I managed 5 full time employees, helping them achieve company targets through monthly one-to-ones and an annual review. We collaboratively identified squeeze points in annual workloads and with time, successfully spread these out to reduce work stress.Safety management: I worked closely with the Managing Director implementing Outlooks safety policies, signing off site specific risk assessments for all overseas products, ensuring all hazards were identified, assessed and managed to give a low residual risk to expedition teams.Budget management: I worked alongside the Commercial Coordinator to deliver robust cost and budget management plans. I was responsible for the company’s overseas reconnaissance budget of £30k annually and I had the responsibility of ensuring all expeditions stayed within our overseas budget of roughly £1M.Project management: I was responsible for organising the logistics for 80 expedition products, alongside which I focussed on product development, adding new products to the expedition library. This involved research, site visits, negotiating costs, making bookings, assigning budgets and carrying out risk assessments as well as ensuring compliance with due diligence and operating procedures. In 2019, one of my new products was visited by 93 people, following which it was rated an average of 8.5/10.Relationship building: I liaised with in-country partners from all around the world, seeking the best value products without compromising safety or financial viability.Additional responsibilities: Following a company restructure, with direction from the Managing Director I formed the Destination Management team. This included recruitment as well as creating all the processes that sat behind the role.
