I enjoy helping people navigate through the US Tax Code. After listening to clients and reviewing financial records, I work to uncover credits and deductions, advise against potential liabilities, and ensure they don’t pay more taxes than necessary.

Schoolhouse Language Center is a group of 20 schools and a leading provider of English language instruction in southern Taiwan. After 2 years serving as an ESL instructor, I was asked to open a new location. While eventually managing 2 branches with 20 staff serving over 600 students, my role always included projects aimed to benefit the entire company. After 17 years, my desire to be home with family and friends was finally strong enough for me to make the big move back to the US.• Whether identifying enrollment trends, controlling inventory flow and costs, evaluating project initiatives, or creating other ad hoc strategic financial analysis, my role as the branch’s business planner was to identify opportunities for improvement and make operations and work flow processes more efficient.• I authored 15+ pages of material to explain Taiwan tax policies, to quantitatively define curriculum parameters and instructor expectations, and to establish uniform student assessment standards. These pages were later incorporated into the employee manual and adopted company-wide.• By co-authoring 2 upper level English/Chinese creative writing books, it not only helped differentiate us from competitors, but publishing in house allowed all branches to decrease book costs for students while increasing profit margins on books sold.

While still full-time at Schoolhouse, the language assessment material I wrote caught the attention of Oxford University Press. Over a period of 6 years, I was independently contracted to undertake several major projects centering around one of their most popular series of ESL books: Up and Away in English.• Responding to students and educators who wanted to quantify progress through the series, I wrote and designed 200+ pages of course material testing each of the 192 units in the 6 level, 12 book curriculum. These tests are still used daily by thousands of ESL students around the world.• To help market the series internationally, I created and delivered several instructional training seminars to over 1,500 participants in 10 major cities throughout Taiwan and South Korea.• For the 10th anniversary of the series’ release, I was recruited to add to the curriculum by co-authoring 2 new workbooks and audio CDs that are currently sold around the world.

J. Nissi is a flag, banner and accessories company, and its PraiseBanners division is the world’s largest church banner and flag company. In this fast-growing business, my role was to shoulder the increasing operational duties. Serving as the only person other than the CEO authorized to sign company checks, I managed accounts receivable and national dealer accounts. In addition to managing databases and creating daily sales and inventory reports, I helped establish a unified company-wide product coding system that is still in use today.

Working directly with customers at a branch of Transamerica Financial Services, I generated sales of real estate loans and provided debt consolidation services.

Comdata is a leader in payment solutions and helps top companies streamline payment processes. Originally serving as Call Center Representative, within a year I was promoted to Sales Analyst. Accessing databases containing sales team activity and productivity information, I created summary and graphical reports that the two vice presidents of sales used on a daily basis to help direct their national sales forces.
