I am a native Texan who grew up in Rockdale, TX, about 65 miles northeast of Austin. I graduated from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in 1986 with a BS in Mathematics. I also hold an MS in Mathematics from Tarleton State University and a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology with an emphasis in Research, Measurement, and Statistics from Texas A&M University.Upon graduating from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor, I worked as a delivery driver for United Parcel Service (UPS). I began my career in education in 1992 in Lampasas, TX, where I taught all levels of high school mathematics. Since that time, I have taught and/or been an administrator in Bastrop ISD, Georgetown ISD, Clear Creek ISD, and the University of Houston-Clear Lake. I completed my K-12 career serving as the Assistant Superintendent of Research and Accountability for Arlington ISD, while I also served as an adjunct professor for The University of Texas at Arlington. Post-retirement, I served as an assistant professor at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor where I taught the quantitative statistics courses in the Ed.D. program.I have been a Rotarian since 2013 as well as an active member of educational professional organizations, including Southwest Educational Research Association (SERA), Texas Statewide Network of Assessment Professionals (TSNAP), Accountability Technical Advisory Committee (ATAC), and Texas Performance Assessment Consortium (TPAC). In addition, I am on the Editorial Review Board of Educational Research Quarterly and have just published a journal article entitled, “The Effectiveness of District and Campus Improvement Planning.” My research interest is “Understanding How to Maximize the Effectiveness and Efficiency of Public Schools.”
