About Kevin Shields

I am a versatile and transformative leader, marketer and mathematician. I have led organizations to find new paths to growth through radical change in cost structure and process, and application of core expertise to new markets. As a senior executive I have helped reshape traditional consumer research through unprecedented partnerships and new strategic alliances. I am a trusted, tough-minded and gritty advisor to CEOs who finds new ways to help companies identify, educate, and expand their customer base.• Most recently I transformed Kantar’s global data assets from being sources solely for consumer & shopper insights to fuel for targeted advertising and campaign measurement in the addressable digital advertising business, generating incremental profit. • I was a member of the leadership team that brought publicly-held IRI from the brink of extinction, realigning its cost structure and selling to Symphony Technology Group. • I led the creation of the National Consumer Panel in a game-changing deal with competitor Nielsen, saving both IRI and Nielsen tens of millions of dollars, and changing the rules of competition from investing in old technology to innovating new applications for clients. • As co-founder of the Catalina-IRI joint venture company I helped pioneer the use of real-time scan data for loading trucks, retail execution, forecasting and shelf replenishment. • I was part of the product teams that revitalized the San Francisco treat, Rice-A-Roni, and grew Gatorade to become an iconic, global, billion-dollar brand. • Over the years and under my leadership, my teams have earned accolades ranging from Kantar’s “Blue Ribbon Award for Innovation” to Frito-Lay’s “Supplier of the Year”. I am a COO who guides and inspires teams and organizations to collaborate and execute through particularly daunting challenges. My foundational work enables the companies I’ve served to achieve exceptional growth, making money for owners and stakeholders.

Who are cannabis consumers? Where will they come from? Who are they, politically, socioeconomically? And how will their spending on non-cannabis categories be impacted? It is these questions that led us to create a service that could support the entire cannabis ecosystem and measure its impact on other established consumer categories. These questions matter to existing industries like pharmaceutical, tobacco, consumer packaged goods, and medicine. They also are important to the marijuana industry itself, municipalities, governments, and other stakeholders. Whether you are a new business entering the cannabis industry, an established retailer or manufacturer, a long-standing business interested in what the cannabis industry means for your bottom line, or a political campaign looking to understand what your constituency wants, C2G provides the insights you need to do what you do, better.
