Freelance Site Engineer/ Manager

As a utility surveyor, my duties were to find underground services using Ground Penetrating Radar, Cable Avoidance Tool and Signal Generator (CAT & genny) etc, then mapping these services using total station and GPS equipment for use in creating CAD drawings.

During my time at Advance, I I have completed an apprenticeship in civil engineering. I gained an HNC in civil engineering and a SVQ in built environment design. I’m proficient in land surveying, setting out engineering and ground modelling using the N4ce 3D modelling software and autoCAD. I have participated in a Trimble setting out course and I have also gained my gold CSCS card and first aid certificate.

As a groundworker for JSL, we mostly worked in Ministry Of Defence complex’s such as Faslane and Coulport, so security passes and disclosures had to be in place. The works included concreting, tarring, fencing, high security fortification, ballard installation, slabbing, kerbing, pipe laying, deep excavations, utilities and escorting sub contractors around the high security areas.

During my time with SRM, I was based at the velodrome which was being created for the Commonwealth games. I was there for the full duration of the project which gives me a great knowledge of how a major project evolves over time. My duties were setting out, surveying, supervising sub contractors, monitoring the settlements of the trusses, monitoring the pouring of the super flat concrete slab and progress photographs.
