I am a Junior transfer student studying at the University of North Texas in the Engineering/Technology College, majoring in Construction Engineering Technology. As I am still a student my main goal is to obtain an entry-level position in the confutation field or to gain skills and knowledge towards becoming a project manager superintendent. Gaining skills and knowledge towards my field is very important to me, and I try to take as many opportunities outside the classroom as I can. For our lab in one of my classes we built a miniature, but fully livable playhouse. In which we started with the floor and worked all the way up until electric, plumbing and paint. Other than that I have also worked with a friend in the painting stage of flipping a home. Those opportunities have given me the chance to get in some real life experiences and learn things such as painting, electric work, budgeting, and scheduling. As a transfer student, I received Dean’s List honors for my first semester at the University of North Texas this past fall. This spring I am currently working towards these honors again. As far as employment goes, I have worked three separate jobs including a public works job, freight sorting, and lawn care. All three of these jobs have given me different skills and lessons. I worked a seasonal employee for the Elk Grove Village Public Works for three summers where I got to work with experienced people in tree cutting, cold patching, and other job using dangerous equipment safely. Having three different types of jobs have given me the opportunity to learn new skills and views, while taking on more responsibilities.
