I created this health related business entity to more effectively address sickness prevention in the workplace. Most public and private organisations (81%) reported minor illness was the primary cause of short-term absence within their organisation. I guided my team to use sound microbiological, forensic and cleaning principles to develop and implement a number new ways to assess and lower sickness risk in offices and work areas. I founded Innovation and Technology initially to manage a computer consultancy business which flourished after finishing my studies at Curtin University. In time the company was also used as an incubator for developing new ideas through to start up entities. One start-up company from the Innovation and Technology incubator was Nursing Innovations. I started this company on a budget of $2000 which after this point was completely self-funding through sales. This infection control product range enabled hospital patients to shower after surgery while preventing pathogens from entering surgical sites. This is particularly important for people who are immunocompromised having a lower immune function. Hospital organisations using this range of products were able to save $34 per product - reduced hospital expenses related to associated Hospital Acquired Infections and reduced application time.
