While growing up in the remote city of Perth I realised two things – I enjoyed thinking outside the box and - sickness prevented me from doing things I liked, made me feel bad also illnesses can be dangerous (causing disability or death). After completing my tertiary education in various science disciplines I founded Innovation and Technology which developed ideas to start-up businesses (16 patents and provisional patents). Also, the computer consultancy section of this company enabled me to develop interesting computer forecasting models such as developing an index to accurately predict the unemployment rate for Australia 3 months ahead.During this period I founded other companies which allowed me to pursue my childhood passion of innovating new ways to prevent diseases both for individuals and communities. For example Nursing Innovations developed and manufactured an infection control product range which minimizes infection risk after major and minor surgical procedures. This product range won a silver medal in the world’s largest invention Exhibition in Geneva and currently supplies 85% of hospitals in Western Australia.Although stimulating and rewarding I felt the need to have a greater influence in general disease prevention and infection control after becoming aware the causation of illness in workplaces is due to a lack of cleanliness and Infection control (over three quarters of public and private organisations believe that minor illness is the major cause of unplanned absenteeism), so I formed a business, Healthy Clean which provides services to Organisations and workplaces. These services included:
