2013 NPC Natural Northern USA.This was my second NPC Bodybuilding Competition. This event was Totally Awesomeness for sure. Everything went well, and I came in a lot leaner than my first show back in March. Weighing in Oct. 4th at a respectable 175 pounds. Much lighter than I had planned. Man, there were so many competitors from all over in this one. I even heard there was some that flew in from other Countries to participate in this event. This being the last NPC National Qualifier for this year, I do believe. Back Stage was PACKED with competitors and everybody was in INCREDIBLY IMPRESSIVE SHAPE. It was also humid and stinky. PEEEWWWYYYOOOUUU STINKO-DE-MI-AAYYY, LOL. But non the less, there was very much a mutual respect amongst all the competitors as well, and this makes for an awesome time and enjoyable experience. Placing 10th and 12th is acceptable to me, knowing that I am still lacking that luster cutting edge of well developed legs with size and separation that the NPC Judges look for. I can live with that, knowing how far I have came already, enduring through and triumphing over my physical setbacks. Heck yeah, it is also a sweet experience to win... however, the overall experience and sense of completion alone is a very overwhelming gratifying experience to say the least. If you lose your sense of motivation... your focus... your personal reasons for reaching and achieving your goals... then you will find your experience meaningless and empty. I am out there to have a GOOD TIME and ENJOY myself. I learn through my experiences... through trial and error... we learn from our mistakes, we correct them and move on... always moving forward, one step at a time. One day at a time. And I am looking forward to entering a 3rd NPC Bodybuilding Competition down the road. However, I will training harder and more diligently... concentrating and focusing on my leg development ...Thank everybody for the Positive Feedback, You guys are TOTALLY AWESOMENESS!!!

Cliff is an Awesome friend that is great to work with. Cliff's work is Quite Impressive. With a professional, relaxed, and comfortable atmosphere, he makes you feel right at home. I love depicting the characters that Cliff creates. There is much hard work involved with eccentric details. This kind of modeling is no easy task, and definitely requires acting skills as well. Creating expressions for the variety of characters so to further breath life into the Illustrations enhancing the artists story. The Warrior and the Artist live by the same code of necessity... which dictates that the battle must be fought a new every day. The more you sweat in training... I most recently landed another small role as a background bouncer. However, when I got to the set, and Rapper-Promoter-Actor-Producer-Directer Jason Kulayd Clayton seen me in person... My role was upgraded from a background bouncer to a Ring Side Announcer... which is my first actual speaking role. "Count Time" - The Movie: http://counttimemovie.webs.com/ I had spent all afternoon rehearsing my lines. When it came down to the nitty gritty, and all was said and done. I was told afterwards by Jason and many others that my performance was off the hook, and that I really brought some unique qualities to my character. Although I know it is just a small role, It was really cool to receive such positive feedback on my performance. Knowing that I have the ability not only to memorize character lines on such short notice, but to also know that I have the skill and talent as an actor to breath life into that character and give such an outstanding Impression.There was also some real MMA fights going on in the evening at the venue. Just about everyone thought that I was one of the fighters for the event. The funny thing is when I told the guys handing out the tickets that I was the "ring announcer", they actually had thought I was the ring announcer for the real fights, lol. Jason overheard the conversation, in which he was excitedly reassured that he had made an excellent choice choosing me to play this character, in which he obviously expressed through his body language, simultaneously as he blurted it out loud! This is gonna be pretty big, with a lot of well known actors and professionals. I would love to give more details, however I am not at liberty to say right now, so that topic is disclosed at this time.It was Bittersweet having ring side seats seeing all the action up close first hand.As always, I am deeply grateful for this opportunity for sure.Respectfully, Kevin Mattson PAPA BEAR

The Beatdown movie came out already on August 31st, 2010. My scene is very small. I am fighting in the Octagon caged ring in the back ground, right after the wet t-shirt contest scene. It flashes very quick a few times for only a few seconds. It was shot in Austin, Texas in early December of 2009. They were shooting way late into the night and the temperatures had dropped to the low 30's. My adrenalin from all the excitement kept me warm though in those MMA shorts. Although it did help too when I stood in the middle of the ring under the hot spot lights lol. As my wife and the background extras, and the movie set crew were all bundled up freezing there tushies off, lol. We had an Awesome time for sure! And they did put my behind the scenes Interview on the DVD/Blue Ray movie release under the special features too... Anyway, Gotta Love It for sure
