Responsible for the purification and initial characterization of antibodies from discovery through clinical development• In collaboration with a CMO, developed a three step purification protocol for MVT-5873, Mabvax’s first human monoclonal antibody currently in Phase 1 clinical trials.• Brought the CMO process back to Mabvax for in-house production of the MVT-5873. Demonstrated that comparable product was purified at both sites• Managed over 200 antibodies through the purification process to increase Mabvax’s anti-tumor target portfolio.• Developed a database to track the antibody production process and control antibody inventory.

Responsible for protein expression in high throughput format for screening of therapeutic candidates• Executed a high throughput protein screening process including: expression, affinity purification and characterization of highly purified Physiocrine molecules. Approximately 40-50 molecules were completed and delivered every week to the Analytics Dept. and to the Physiology department. • Scaled-up Physiocrine candidates from E.coli expression cultures. Purified the proteins on AKTA FPLC instruments for further characterization and animal studies with the goal of selecting an IND candidate

Responsible for the manufacture of catalog products and inter-departmental transfer of new products based on company goals and deadlines• Part of a 10-person team tasked with cloning the entire Saccharomyces cerevisiae genome into 2 expression vectors using Invitrogen’s TOPO cloning technology. The original goal for completion was 6 months and the team completed it in 5. The result was validation of TOPO cloning technology and a new product line generating additional income for the company. • Developed a manufacturing process that tripled the batch amount of TOPO adapted vectors reducing cost and increasing profit margin by 4-fold.• Took the TOPO technology and developed a custom TOPO adaptation service for customers who wanted their proprietary vector converted for easy TOPO-cloning. It was a very popular service and generated $160,000 in sales the first month. • Was a founding member of the “New Product Introduction Committee” charged with bringing in new product ideas from R&D and scaling them for manufacturing. Among the new catalog products my group was responsible for were: AlexaFlor protein labeling reagents and kits for staining and detection and PurLink DNA purification products.
