Kevin Murphy is a Partner at The Baker Group at The Baker Group. Colleagues describe him as "Being roommates for three of the four years while sharing the same major at Michigan State University, Kevin and I grew to know each other very well both inside, and outside of the classroom. As an individual, Kevin is one of the most morally and ethically sound friends that I have. As an academic, those same qualities carry over, and then some. Sharing the same major proved beneficial for both of us, Kevin and I helped and competed with each other in nearly every course we took. I quickly came to recognize many admirable traits that Kevin continued to display that led to his success within the classroom. Kevin is one of those students that you are glad to have in your group during an important group project. His work ethic is second to none, his quality of work always reaches his lofty expectations, and when the time calls for it he doesn't hesitate to grab the reins and effectively manage his peers. Always prepared, his time management skills are a quality that I admire and strive to duplicate. Without the need for all-nighters at the library or ever stressing to meet a deadline, Kevin was able to manage juggling part-time employment with a rigorous academic course load throughout the four years at Michigan State, while still finding time to balance in an active social life. Lastly, Kevin is always eager to learn. He refuses to accept vague statements as fact and must always understand the root cause of a particular theory. Time and time again, a simple statement I would make to him about the stock market or other financial headline would lead to an intense debate about WHY that's occurring. This also carried over into the classroom and it soon was demonstrated that when Kevin did not have a complete grasp of a particular concept, he wouldn't be afraid to raise his hand or stay after class until he was satisfied with his level of understanding. All of these characteristics, in addition to his excellent understanding of financial concepts, lead me to give a very strong recommendation for any future endeavor that Kevin chooses to pursue. He is a very morally sound individual with a work ethic that is paralleled solely by the quality of work he completes.
