About Kevin Roux

After two years of CPGE PCSI/PSI* (First and second year of bachelor), I did my graduate studies (Master degrees) at Institut d'Optique Graduate School in Palaiseau. I completed both a Master of Science in Physics, focused on nanoscale physics (quantum optics, mesoscopic transport, magnetism, cold atoms) and a Master of Science in theoretical and applied optics. During these three years I developed a strong interest in Atomic, Molecular and Optical physics thanks to several opportunities in world leading groups in atomic physics as the Hulet's lab at Rice University, the Quantum Optics group at ETHZ or the Quantum Optics group at the Laboratoire Charles Fabry.After having finished my Master Thesis under the supervision of Pr. Tilman Esslinger at the ETHZ I am now doing a PhD at EPFL where I investigate the physics of strongly correlated fermions coupled to a high finesse resonator. This setup is designed for the study of mesoscopic transport and of cavity Quantum Electrodynamics with strongly interacting fermions.My main research interests are quantum optics, degenerate quantum gases and mesocopic physics related to transport phenomena.

    Design and build a whole UV laser system for trapping and cooling Li-7 in order to achieve Bose Einstein Condensate. This laser will be used to cool Li-7 about a few micro Kelvins. This setup required several stage as a laser stabilization and amplification, a frequency doubling cavity and a frequency stabilization by using saturated absorption.Work supervised by Randall G Hulet and Jason Nguyen.

    Designing and building a new controller for the magnetic field used in the Magneto Optical Trap (MOT). The aim of this project was to improve the previous version of the controller in order to increase the speed of the system to switch between two different configurations.
