In April 2010, I completed my EMT-basic at the National EMS Academy in Covington, LA. I was then hired at Acadian Ambulance in May 2010. I worked on the ambulance in the high call volume area of Tangipahoa Parish in Louisiana. In October of 2010 I was accepted into the accelerated paramedic class at the National EMS Association and graduated with honors June 2011. I worked on the ambulance in Covington, LA where my partner and I was given 2 meritorious service awards for cardiac arrest saves. I was paramedic of the week and then trained and became a Preceptor for Acadian which involves training new EMT's. In June 2012 I became a Remote Paramedic for Acadian Ambulance/Safety Management Systems in the Gulf of Mexico. I currently work on a Fieldwood Energy platform and supply paramedic medical services and dispatch services for 2 helicopters, 3 boats and for 100+ personnel on 14 different platforms spread across an area of 115 miles. I am proud and love being a paramedic. I hope to further my education in the medical field whether on land or offshore.
