I develop and execute communications plans around statewide priorities to increase recycling and organics, product safety and sustainability, and programs to aid businesses in embracing more sustainable activities. I also write speeches and create presentations for the agency’s commissioner to deliver at conferences and media events on topics including climate change, environmental equity, and water infrastructure.

Communicated the latest developments in cutting-edge university research and technology commercialization. Wrote press releases and blog posts about innovative research across all disciplines and coordinated media interviews.

Informed the public on the workings of the Austin City Council and state Legislature. Other responsibilities included obituaries, business stories and human interest features.
