Jost is a manufacturer of high purity specialty salts for the pharmaceutical, nutritional, food, and other specialty markets. My research involves working with cross-functional groups (engineering, quality, production) toward the improvement of manufacturing processes for current Jost inorganic salt products, as well as the development of new product lines. This includes new mineral salt products, as well as granulated and JOSTCOTE micro-encapsulated products. I am responsible for all aspects of development for each product, from research lab scale chemistry, to pilot scale, all the way to production scale, including all analytical and compendium assay work. Improving physical attributes of the products, including particle size, crystal morphology, flow-ability and compressibility, is also a priority.

My research involved synthetic organic/medicinal chemistry lead optimization towards pharmaceutically relevant targets, such as NO releasing COX-2 pro-drugs known as Euclicoxibs, for the treatment of cancer. This work was done by SARmont on behalf of Euclises Pharmaceuticals. In addition, SARmont performed CRO (Contract Research Organization) analog synthesis, process development and analog scale-up for several other clients in addition to Euclises. I performed most all the synthesis and analog scale-up for SARmont and Euclises, as well as some in vitro biology work. I also did all the analytical, formulations, chiral synthesis and crystallization, and process development work, as well as being in charge of purchasing for SARmont and Euclises. SARmont and Euclises are pharmaceutical start-up companies founded by Dr. John Talley, which are located in the Biogenerator Accelerator labs of the Cortex building in St. Louis, MO.

My research involved the development of new polymer coatings for electrical insulation. Specifically, I was involved in the synthesis of unsaturated polyester resins and their subsequent formulation to enhance the properties of secondary electrical insulation polymers (electric motor insulation), through the use of cheaper and more environmentally friendly starting materials. This work was performed on lab bench scale of 100's of grams, as well as scale-up to pilot plant scale exceeding 100 kilogram batches.

I was a member of the Medicinal Chemistry Department in Pfizer, as well as the legacy Searle and Pharmacia organizations in St. Louis. I was a Senior Scientist in World Wide Medicinal Chemistry and have significant experience in the synthesis of potential inflammation inhibitors. I have been a member several interdisciplinary teams that have delivered a total of six phase 1 clinical candidates. I am a co-inventor of, and the first person to synthesize Fosdagrocorat (PF-04171327), a glucocorticoid partial agonist (DAGR) that reached Phase II trials for RA. I am also a co-inventor of PHA-797804, a p38 inhibitor that reached Phase II trials for COPD. I have experience in the development of oral, as well as inhaled drug candidates, and also have experience in the development of pro-drugs on milligram to gram scale.

Performed synthesis of small molecules for testing as potential plant fungicides. Synthesis was carried out using liquid phase combinatorial chemical techniques, as well as via a mixed solid/solution phase motif, including the use of solid phase parallel reactors such as the STAR and Supelco blocks, and laboratory automation and robotics (Bohdan, Argonaut, Tecan). Managed day to day operation of the Ag Discovery robotics laboratory, including assembly, calibration and routine maintenance of the robots. Aided the department in custom programming of the robotics to achieve their particular synthesis, weighing and/or purification needs.Served on the design/development team for the department's automation laboratory information management system (LIMS) in conjunction with Hilco Corp.
