• Created software for a transcoding-as-a-service business. This software transcodes feature films and episodic TV for adaptive streaming, download, and broadcast for customers including AT&T, Charter, Rogers, Shaw.
• Created ITU BS.1770 Audio Analyzer to measure program loudness, including True-Peak,including speech detection.
• Audio Mixer, to route any number of streams/channels to any combination of output streams/channels, with optional mixing (e.g., 5.1-stereo downmix.)
• Wrote source caching code, to mount inputs in a AWS EBS volume accessible to the Docker container, and copy the output to an S3 AWS location.
• Wrote code to parse job parameters from a JSON job spec. As part of a team of 2-3 engineers, maintained and extended a Windows (DirectShow) transcode system using a mix of third-party components (e.g., third-party.
• Code to sequence multiple source files into the same transcode, to add ratings cards and trailers at transcode time.

• Led a team of (up to) 10 software engineers developing BDJ stack of Blu-Ray player from initial design to final logo certification.
• Cross platform design shipped both on Windows and embedded Linux (Samsung product running Broadcom 7438 chipset). Other teams ported my team’s design to STMicro, LSI, and SunPlus.

• Created DVD-VR (video recording) navigation component.
• Maintained DVD MPEG-2 video decoder. Extended the decoder’s CSS decryption library to also include CPRM decryption for DVD-VR navigation.
• Coded trick play functions (fast forward, reverse, step) for embedded DVD navigator on Scientific Atlanta PowerTV cable platform. Also reworked buffer allocation for Scientific Atlanta platform which used DTV transport.
• Created scene-detector for DV-25 digital video. The filter quickly detected motion between two video frames by parsing only the DC coefficients from each macroblock. Other programmers furthered the project with more.

• Developed a DirectShow Video CD Navigation component.
• Created MPEG-2 splitter component with time-search functionality.
• Created DirectShow SPDIF audio renderer for playing back AC3 and PCM audio on a Home Theater receiver while maintaining synchronization with video.

• Developed DirectX renderers for MusicTimeOnline DirectX based playback that rendered MIDI data on a variety of animated instruments. (Fingering data and other performance data were stored as MIDI sysex events.)
