After being strongly impacted by the Mason City Youth For Christ program as a student, I have returned to North Iowa and am pioneering and directing a Youth For Christ program in Clear Lake. As the Clear Lake YFC director, I report directly to the North Iowa Youth For Christ chapter. We will be launching a Clear Lake middle school ministry site in January of 2017, and hope to expand into the Clear Lake high school in coming years.As the Clear Lake director, I have many roles ranging from volunteering in the middle school, directly ministering to students, recruiting and equipping volunteers, acting as a church and community liaison, leading site development campaigns, and collaborating with other Youth For Christ sites and chapters.

Greater Minneapolis-St. Paul Area

As the primary student grounds worker, I am entrusted to carry out weekly grounds duties with minimal supervision. Since North Central is the greatest land owner in downtown Minneapolis, this requires a good deal of time management and prioritizing. My duties for the grounds department also include writing and editing groundskeeping manuals and keeping equipment service logs, as well as assisting in training newly hired employees.As of the first of this year (2016), my department took over the school's life safety checks, and I am co-fronting a revamp of the program. This includes re-mapping areas of campus, training to make all necessary repairs and replacements of life safety equipment, making sure all areas of campus meet requirements of federal code, and training other North Central employees to perform monthly life safety checks.

University Of Minnesota (Minneapolis)

I began my internship at Chi Alpha with a two-day support raising seminar tailored toward first-time personal support raising. After this training I raised support during the spring and summer of 2014, during which time I was able to raise enough support to live off of. During the Summer of 2014, I was an integral part in preparing for the launch of Chi Alpha's Sunday morning program, Varsity Church. My responsibilities included recruiting volunteers for the launch team, researching equipment purchases, assisting in remodeling the sanctuary, and recruiting and organizing a worship team.After the launch of Varsity Church, I continued involvement in the worship department as the musical director and schedule coordinator into the fall semester. I also began weekly responsibilities of leading a Chi Alpha small group, and leading the Chi Alpha roadie team. In September of 2014, I was approached by an international student about giving drum lessons. This began my involvement with another one of Chi Alpha's programs, Chi Alpha International. As the semester progressed, I took on several more lesson students, most of whom were international students from China. In December of 2014, I approached the Chi Alpha staff about transitioning my internship to focus on international ministry, and it was decided that at semester change, I would transition over.After a month of working with Chi Alpha International, the director of Chi Alpha asked to meet with me. He informed me that the Chi Alpha International directors were taking a few months leave following a death in the family, and asked me to run the ministry with the help of a Chinese missionary volunteer couple. During this time, I got first hand experience in leading a program from unlocking the doors at the beginning of the night to locking them back up after everyone had left, to meeting with several students throughout the week.

Greater Minneapolis-St. Paul Area

As a ride operator, I interacted with guests on a daily basis, and made sure that safety procedures were followed during ride operations. I also tried as often as I could to make the guests' experience better, by creating small talk, telling jokes, and simply smiling at guests who were having a hard day.As a guest service operator, I interact with guest on a daily basis, deal with guest concerns and complaints, and found creative ways to make the guests' experience a good experience. I frequently gave directions to specific stores, attractions, and transportation areas, rented out equipment, such as strollers and shopping carts, and sold tickets to attractions owned by the Mall of America. As a Exhibits Representative, my roles varied from selling tickets, to running the cafe, to giving tours of the exhibits. I interacted all with guests for extended periods of time while giving tours, and often used skills acquired in guest service when helping guests who upset and seeking refunds.

Mason City, Iowa

As a senior in high school I worked for Floyd and Lenord Automotive, a small company that dealt and repaired small engines. My duties included pick up and delivery of equipment such as lawn mowers, snow blowers, riding lawn mowers, and small farm equipment. While not on a delivery run, I helped run the counter, performing tasks including guest service, sales, and shipping. In the shop I learned how to operate a fork lift and do general maintenance on small engines such as oil and air filter changes. During off-seasons, I filled my time organizing the shop and warehouse area as well as taking inventory of parts and equipment.

Mason City, Iowa

The summer between my junior and senior year of high school, I worked construction for a small local company. My primary role was assisting the year-round guys, but as the summer went on, I was able to learn how to do many things on my own. I feel that this job made me more responsible, and I saw my problem solving skills develop throughout the summer.
