Joined Blackbaud at a time when it was transitioning away from a monolith to microservices. Initially, I worked on the Advocacy team responsible for the many Advocacy features in the Luminate product. For example, it supported a feature that helped our clients deliver advocacy messages to government officials.Worked on our data pipeline team to facilitate exposure of data from a legacy monolith to microservices deployed in Amazon EC2 using Apache Kafka. This enabled other teams to deploy new features for our customers more quickly than was possible with the legacy system. I gained a lot of experience in operating infrastructure in a distributed architecture. We achieved high availability and durability with large throughput to support a multi-tenant system. I shared my knowledge of Apache Kafka with other teams building Producers and Consumers. Contributed to and responsible for shared library for Kafka access that abstracted away many complex details regarding connection, configuration, offset management and concurrent behavior.
