Kevin has a 45-year background in closed-cell foam product development and sales. He started his career with foam in 1979 as a student in the school of Ergonomics at the University of California Santa Barbara, resulting in licenses to sporting good giants AMF Voit and the Coleman Company. Through the 1980s and early 1990s he was an independent development agent servicing the surf, swim and ski markets with foam, rubber and plastic product services. In 1996 he teamed up with the early founders of what is now Foam Creations, and has enjoyed 28 years of XL EXTRALIGHT (foam) innovations for clients including Crocs footwear, Nike Swim, Speedo USA, Jacuzzi, One World Futbol Project, Johnson Outdoors, Otterbox and many others. His most recent FC partnership with eLifeguard.com emphasizes the diverse opportunities of foam products within the newly founded industry of water safety and aquatic game play. Foam Creations is the global leader in technical foam for ergonomic protection, comfort, safety and rescue products, with applications for footwear, seating, headrests, medical, home health, and orthopedic applications, in both industrial and consumer products, with now 7 affiliate production facilities globally. F.C. has introduced products like Crocs Shoes, Jacuzzi pillows, soccer balls, the SKWIM Disk, Life Rescue Tube, Life Rescue Ring, used by Red Cross and YMCA lifeguards globally. Kevin is founder of the water game SKWIM®, played internationally, and founder of SKWIM International, and the nonprofit Skwim USA 501c3, the governing body. Kevin is currently Board Chairman of Skwim USA, dedicated to teaching open-water safety and lifesaving skills in the context of game play. XL Extralight is now featured in many of the related Skwim products including the implement of the game, the Skwim Disk, and on the Skwim Goals, as the ramped periphery to offer flotation and cushion during goal action.Coach McCarthy is chairman for SKWIM® USA, a 501c3 nonprofit committed to teaching swim skills and water safety through 'team-play'.
