I have served in numerous leadership positions in Medical Care and Medical Education. Late last year, I competed 10 years as Physician in Chief at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. I am proud to be a past president of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. I am passionate about supporting physicians maintain and improve their competence in practice and improving the quality of Medical Care. I have particular interest in Fatigue risk management and Resident Duty hours, having served as co-chair of pan-Canadian Consensus process on this topic. I am currently leading a National Task Force on Periodic Reaffirmation of Competence as well one on Fatigue Risk Management.I am a Professor of Medicine at the University Toronto and have previously served as an Associate Dean in Postgraduate Medicine, Vice-Chair of Education as well as Residency Program Director for Internal Medicine and Hematology. I maintain a clinical practice in malignant hematology.I have enjoyed a varied career with prior Leadership roles in the Cancer system including Practice Guideline development and dissemination, as well as work on new drug funding including economic analysis.I am passionate about improving the health of Canadians though improving care and, in particular, medical education as well as improving equity in Health Care in particular, for those who identify as LGBTQ+, Women and first Nation and Aboriginal people.Outside work, I am an avid marathoner and TriathleteSpecialties: Medical Education, Physician Competence, Hospital Administration, Malignant Hematology, Practice guideline development, Medical Leadership
