I was born and raised in Miami, FL and then spent my late teenage years in Charleston, SC. My family and I often traveled to various places both abroad and within the U.S. As a result, I developed a deep appreciation and love for the history and cultures of the various locations we visited. I am a recent graduate of Florida State University where I obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree majoring in Editing, Writing, and Media within the English department with a minor in Communications. My coursework has consisted of extensive writing, both creatively and academically. I have had a wide variety of work experience. This has exposed me to every personality type and has prepared me to cohesively work and communicate with my peers. I have worked in multiple fields where communication is vital to achieving success. This was especially crucial during my times as a Divemaster in the Florida Keys and as an Adventure Course Guide for the Tree to Tree zipline course in Tallahassee. Whether it was answering a customer’s question about what was to be expected during a particular activity or giving safety instructions, clear communication was paramount.The practical experience I gained through my coursework and internships have allowed me to develop valuable skill sets. My abilities as a writer and editor were enhanced during these times. I was able to write about rhetoric, literature, local culture, culinary topics, as well as create original content for multiple organizations. While Florida State University did not offer a specific journalism path, the education I received gave me the necessary tools to pursue journalistic endeavors such as creating a personal travel and food blog. With my passion for cultural immersion along with my academic and professional experience, I believe I possess the necessary knowledge and skills in order to be a productive and vital addition to your organization.
