Developed a queue mechanism to hold details of shipments made and two interfaces to load jobs onto the queue and also to process these shipments through three existing processes within the Glovia system. This application was part of a product suite that included Presentation Planning, Facilities Management, Programme Sales and Media Library applications targeting the broadcast industry.Worked very closely with several large clients in the UK broadcasting industry (STV, UTV, Granada, BBC & Sky) developing solutions & implementing our applications.Also worked very closely with a senior manager developing another side of the business working on fleet management solutions for our client BRS. Developed fleet management solutions for Citroen, Peugeot & Rover. Again written in PROIV.Was chosen to lead our largest project; at that time; to integrate three of our applications (Artist Contracts, Facilities Management and Sales) at BBC Worldwide in London. Spent many months on site running prototyping workshops with all areas of the business to fully understand the requirements. From these meetings produced a detailed breakdown of the requirements and once signed off, started development of a bespoke solution using the three existing applications as a base. Lead a small team of four developers through this exercise. Planned a phased delivery approach and ran on site training programmes for BBC staff. Worked very closely with the BBC project team at regular project meetings and project updates. Fully implemented all requirements and obtained full sign off by the client. Show less

The application was developed on time and budget and… Show more I was headhunted for my position at HTV by a colleague who I had attended the PROIV training course with the previous year.I joined a small team as a (junior) programmer developing a new Artist Contract & Payment system. The team consisted of a Business Analyst, Technical Team lead and two programmers. I worked very closely with the technical lead and the other programmer to develop the application in a very short space of time. The application was developed on time and budget and implemented live.After go live, i assumed support responsibility for the application supporting a department of approx. 15 users. Other notable activities included the successful upgrading & porting of this application from proprietary (Honeywell) kit to SCO Unix servers. My role included planning the move, performing numerous test exercises and scheduling the operation. I planned the move for a weekend and lead a team of hardware engineers to swap out the existing hardware for new.My other development responsibility was assisting the development/enhancement of a new TV planning & scheduling application (BOSS) written in Powerhouse (by Cognos).
