Urban Incubator Program Participant
The Incubator is our key two-year program to serve, train, and develop church planters in New York City. The Incubator is also delivered to church planters in target cities through local trainers.Each learning module addresses the specific needs of urban planters, including skills in thinking theologically about ministry, and growth in the various areas of urban ministry. Church planters go through the program during the critical phase of launching their congregations. They get practical help on writing their action plan, the philosophy of ministry, crucial ministry development, and preaching, among other topics. Ideally, this training is accompanied by coaching to encourage the planters to perform to the maximum extent of their giftedness.

DESCRIPTIONThe Church Planting Fellows Program is a training and leadership development program designed for individuals who want to church plant in New York City. The Fellows Program gives participants a realistic experience of life and ministry within the city context and is a full time one-year residential course. At the conclusion of the program, Fellows will usually transition (within a year) into the pre-launch phase of their church planting project.STRUCTURE OF THE PROGRAMThe program consists of supervised ministry, seminars, and internship in a church planting project in New York City. Each Fellow will be evaluated regarding their ministry and educational experiences, interests, gifts and needs in order to determine the appropriate program of study and ministry assignment. Fellows are exposed to a range of ministry experiences and needs in the urban environment, for example: small groups, leadership training, diaconate and mercy ministries, worship leading, teaching, evangelism, and faith and work.MINISTRY EXPERIENCE & SUPERVISIONFellows spend most of their time in ministry at their assigned church. The group has monthly meetings with a program director to present case studies of experiences and issues they face in ministry. These group meetings are a time for instruction, leadership formation and theological reflection.SEMINARS & MODULESFellows participate in a monthly Theology and Practice of Urban Church Ministry seminar taught by Dr. Tim Keller.
