For the spring semester of 2007, I taught ENGR100: Introduction to Engineering Design and have been invited to teach the class again in spring of 2008. The class was four lecture/activity hours per week for sixteen weeks. Lectures were given concerning different types of engineering practices and topics such as product development, report writing and ethics. The semester project was an “Anti-Icing System for Highway Bridges”, which required the students to work together in teams to design, manufacture and test the product. Programming, computer-aided design and modeling software were used.

I rotated among the three engineering divisions of PennDOT: Highway, Bridge and Construction. I designed on highways and bridges, performed load ratings, evaluated permits, assisted in bi-annual bridge inspections and worked as an inspector on the expansion of Route 30 through Lancaster.
