Topic: Characterisation of sediment deposition in heavily modified catchments

Tianjin City, China

Selected as one of 22 students to travel to China for one month, I participated in Chinese language and cultural classes in addition to undertaking an internship at the Port and Coastal Engineering Laboratory within Tianjin University. Using numerical modelling methods, I analysed the effect of vortex induced vibrations of a laminar fluid on a triangular prism as part of a study to optimise the amplitude and frequency of underwater rods harnessing clean energy from ocean currents. In addition to my placement, I was a tour leader, coordinating group presentations and contributing to the administrative deliverables required by Tianjin University representatives.

Chief Operations Officer, managing roles in the area of volunteers, training and development, and event management, including speaking at schools about career opportunities and pathways into STEM, representing Power of Engineering at industry events, advocating for women in STEM, advocating for a diversified industry, and assisting with regional events delivered for schools in South-West Queensland, while contributing to executive projects related to business development and growth strategy.

Endako Expansion Project:The Endako expansion project increased the molybdenum ore processing capacity of the existing site with the design and construction of a new process plant, stockpile and reclaim, and pebble crushing circuit. The Project Support Coordinator role included providing assistance to engineers in the preparation of design specifications, technical evaluations, and professional documentation such as reports and letters to vendors while ensuring all outgoing documents met Hatch standards.During construction, the role included management of site administration on a FIFO 14/7 rotation.

The 2010 Winter Olympics were hosted by Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. The Event Services staff fulfilled many roles including customer service to visitors at sporting venues, working with security to ensure all venues were managed safely, and VIP management.
