Khalid A. Hashmi is Manager of Separation Technologies at the CanmetENERGY Technology Centre – Devon, Alberta, of Natural Resources Canada. He has over 30 years experience with private oil sector and the federal government. He is principle inventor of the CANMET hydrocyclone represents recent advances in hydrocyclone technology for treating production fluids from oil operations with commercial installations in Canada and international oil sector. He is a Professional Engineer graduated with Chemical Engineering from the University of Alberta and Southern Alberta Institute Technology.Over the years, he has served on national and international Advisory Committees on Environment and Regulatory Groups on oily wastewater and Heavy Oil Associations. He served on the Advisory Committees of Chemical Engineering programs at the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology, Edmonton, Alberta. He is also active in providing training on separation technologies for treating oily wastewaters produced from oil treating operations in the Middle East, Malaysia, Mexico, Pakistan, Russia and Canada.
