Education And Outreach Coordinator
Managed stakeholder engagement throughout a 156-mile region spanning five counties; developed/implemented in-school, field trip, and teacher training programs; partnered with external organizations and grantees in developing their educational and outreach programming; prepared outreach and communications plans, represented the Program at meetings; gave public presentations; worked with Program partners to plan, execute and evaluate activities; planned meetings, workshops and events; wrote press releases and other communications tools; developed print, display and branding materials; managed social media; grew and managed external relationships; coordinated annual grant cycle and proposal evaluation process for education and outreach proposals.Key Accomplishments:Expanded the Program’s outreach participation from approximately 10 events each year to 40 public programs and events annually, with an additional 25 classroom visits or field programs.Positively influenced development of partner programs including Brevard Zoo’s Paws On exhibit featuring the Indian River Lagoon; Program advisor to Brevard County Sea Grant and Master Gardener extension programs. Assisted in developing a suite of inquiry-based STEM lesson plans as a program advisor to Florida Institute of Technology’s Integrated Science Teaching Enhancement Partnership (InSTEP).Organized Hands Across the Lagoon, the largest event undertaken by the Program, bringing together over forty organizations and sponsors and attracting over 10,000 participants and supporters.2014 winner of a Charlie Corbeil Conservation Award, presented to recognize individuals for exceptional accomplishments in conservation that provide inspiration to others.2013 winner of Marine Resources Council’s Paul Kroegel Award for Outstanding Service to the Indian River Lagoon by a Government Employee.
