I grew up in the Bronx, NY, in a Dominican household with the ideal that treating people, friends, and strangers with love is of the utmost importance. With this ingrained in my character, it is my ultimate goal to work for the betterment of others regardless of circumstances. In sixth grade, my mother took me to a thrift store, allowing me to choose only one item. Naturally, I gravitated toward the book section. I picked up a handbook for neuroscience, and since then, it has been my challenge to uncover the secrets of one of the most fantastic puzzles—the brain. At Dartmouth College, I am proud to be a neuroscience major on the pre-medical track to explore not only genes, proteins, neurons, and a squishy mass but also our behavior, personality, and, ultimately, what makes us human. Our studies teach us how to utilize this science to improve our world. Aside from science, my passions lie in improving our communities through advocacy. I work to advocate for underprivileged youth through my work with the Y20, STEMchats, and The World is Watching. As Dartmouth's former Student Body Vice President and current Presidential Fellow for Community and Strategic Initiatives, I work to improve mental health, fight for barrier removal, and create more equitable spaces on campus.Besides screeching the lyrics to Hamilton, my day-to-day is, and always will be, focused on caring for others.
